The Effects of Computerized Cognitive Rehabilitation on Personal Relationship Ability for Patients with Stroke

Abstract

|
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of computerized cognitive rehabilitation on personal relationship ability for patients with stroke.
Methods: Twenty stroke patients were participated voluntarily and were assigned randomly into the control and the experimental groups. Both control and experimental groups were given same basic rehabilitation treatment while only the experimental group was given Rehacom. The personal relationship ability of both groups was assessed using relationship change scale(RCS).
Results: Personal relationship ability showed a statistically meaningful difference for both experimental and control groups(p<.05), the personal relationship ability of the experimental group improved meaningfully in a statistical way than that of the control group(p<.05).
Conclusion: The disability of social cognition after stroke interferes a patient`s rehabilitation, and it can be a factor that has a negative effect on their personal relationship in daily life. Therefore, computerized cognitive rehabilitation can be a way of treatment for patients with stroke to improve their personal relationship and possibly be applied in clinics as well as occupational therapy.
